Company profile
History
My name is René Goudberg, and from a very early age I've been passionate about cars, Italian cars: most particularly the beautiful machines that Alfa Romeo built during the sixties and seventies. And by the time I had grown up to obtain my driver's license, it all fell into place: one car after another was obtained (mostly Alfa's), with one car being even prettier than the other. One does however grow older and "wiser", and I became a butcher by trade and started my own butcher's shop at an early age. The passion for Italian cars still very much alive, it proved perfectly possible to combine a well-running butcher's shop with a modest collection of classic cars that continued to grow and grow. Until such point that there were so many (too many), that I had to decide to start selling a few. But, which ones?
Eventually it was decided to rent a showroom, and that is how the company "Montagna d'Oro" was set up. Montagna d’Oro is the Italian translation of my surname; "Goudberg". The number of cars continued to grow steadily and also the sales kept rising… My “hobby” became more and more interesting but also a lot more time consuming. Eventually I decided to sell my butcher’s shop to my two brothers-in-law. I still help them out a couple of hours a week, but it allows me to spend a lot more of my time on further establishing and running Montagna d’Oro.
Objective
Our aim is to make Italian classic cars – notably Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Fiat – that discern themselves through their unique styling, design and finish, obtainable for the passionate aficionado. We are able to achieve this by offering cars of a very high quality, with superb originality and history.
To be able to keep offering cars at this level and to maintain and expand our network, it is essential to travel to Italy regularly.
Our target buyers are the serious aficionado’s, the collectors, the men or women that have a genuine passion for Italian classic cars, the likes of Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Fiat. This can be based on shape, speed, finesse, or just plain nostalgia. For these customers Montagna d’Oro usually has a collection of on average 25 cars from the 50-ies and 60-ies, but also the younger classic car enthusiast is catered for, with a selection of 15 to 10 year old cars.
